Luxford Burgers was established in October 2020 by Alexander Galpin with a mission to provide the City of Edinburgh with gourmet and ‘real’ burgers. Using fresh, local produce from some great suppliers, we created our menu, and evolved the concept of the ‘dark kitchen’, taking the face of a custom-built converted shipping container, situated in the heart of Leith, where we got to work.

Alexander was awarded “Young Business Person of the Year” at the 2022 Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for conceptualising and expanding the use of dark kitchens across Scotland.

In March 2021, we moved our flagship venue to a restaurant on St. Leonard’s Street in Edinburgh, where we serve a selection of craft beers, wines, cocktails, as well as a more extensive menu including some exciting “specials”.

During the latter end of 2022 and 2023, Luxford have expanded across the United Kingdom, into delivery-only kitchens in Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham and Leeds, utilising investment from Deliveroo and participation in the Deliveroo “Editions” model.

In recognition, Luxford Burgers were shortlisted for “High Growth Business of the Year” at the 2023 Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

In 2024, we were the proud winners of Independent Restaurant of the Year and Scotland Burger Restaurant of the Year at the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards. Also in 2024, Alexander was recognised as “Rising Star of the Year” at the 2024 Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
